welcome
The Christian life is life in a caravan. We are members of a community travelling in Christ's footsteps by loving one another as he loved us, and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
It is God's plan that we travel this road with others, not only because it is the context in which we can best fulfill his command to love one another as he loved us, but also because there is strength and joy in numbers. It is you being carried when you are injured, and carrying when you are well. While you are setting up the tents, others are lighting the fire or cooking the meal. It is fellowship, and sharing life: security and worship around the campfire, decision-making at the crossroad, mourning at a member's death, and rejoicing at a member's birth.
But there is a further purpose in it if we're walking as Christ walked. Currently, God is explaining redemption, manifesting his wisdom and grace, and proclaiming his excellencies to us and the whole world, not through lots of loosely-connected individuals wandering the desert, but through "a people" who are explaining Jesus in the things they say and do. That means we can express the excellencies of Christ's love, gentleness, patience, grace, mercy, and forgiveness as these virtues are in play among us.
And the caravan has a destination: resurrection, and the full experience of our salvation and eternal life, at the return of Christ.
